Release notes for python-libtrace
---------------------------------
python-libtrace-1.6, June 2015
Reworked ippmodule to use inet-ntop() and inet_pton(),
with check to make sure we don't use :: where it should
be :0:
Fixed PV_free_self define in pv.h, plt builds properly for python3 now
Made new py2 and py3 test *.res files for test programs whose
output depended on string formas of IPv6 addresses
python-libtrace-1.5, April 2015
Fixed memory leak reported by John Green.
Made improvements to the documentation reported by Perry Lorier
python-libtrace-1.4, January 2015
Improved the doc/*.html pages after feedback from NZNOF 2015
python-libtrace workshop
python-libtrace-1.3, December 2015
Small improvements prompted by Nevil's tcp-analyse program
python-libtrace-1.2, June 2014
Added trace function pkt_accepts(),
changed packet_drops() to pkt_drops()
Re-worked packet trace read routines, now both read_packet()
and next_packet() call get_packet(), which handles ethertype
0x8100 packets with vlan tags.
Added new attributes and functions:
packet.vlan_id 802.1Q vlan id, or zero for non-vlan packets
packet.direction libtrace direction, for interfaces that support it
internet.test_l2_cksm() test whether l3 (IPv4) checksum is correct
internet.set_l2_cksm() set l3 (IPv4) checksum
internet.test_trans_cksm() test whether transport checksum is correct
internet.set_trans_cksm() set l3 transport checksum
Note: the cksm functions can be used for ip, ip6, tcp, udp, icmp
and icmp6, i.e. all internet's child classes
Note also: the cksm functions do not use the libtrace checksum
routines; instead they compute the checksums in-place, so
they don't call memcpy().
python-libtrace-1.1, April 2014
Correct IPprefix module name in doc files; it's ipp, not IPprefix
Fix transport layer get routines (e.g. ip6.tcp):
They were returning None if there weren't enough bytes for
most of the header
Now they reurn as much of the header as they can get,
i.e. at least the first field of the header
Note that fields further along the header, e.g. tcp.checksum
will return None if that field was beyond the packet's
snap length!
python-libtrace-1.0, March 2014
First release, development started July 2013
