Personally, I'd like the possibility to configure that weather data be fetched only via 802.11 (or, actually, most any connection other than mobile data).

The context I'm thinking of is while out doing map (OSM) surveying.
When I happen to be connected to an 802.11 then certainly do fire off an API request.
However, when only connected via the cellular network, then my wanting to display weather data (to refresh my memory) shouldn't (necessarily) trigger an API request (I can always do that manually, if I wish).

How much data do you think that's gonna save you? I can tell it's not much at all.
