This is fantastic. Most of my work (I imagine most microscopy datasets) involves very simple TIFFs so having a branch for the simple stuff is a great idea. |

This optimization (which I removed in one my earlier PRs) improves load performance for uncompressed and otherwise "uncomplicated" images
