We would like to create a standalone compliance and performance benchmarking suite which works generically with any HTTP proxy. The idea would be that a client and server application would orchestrate and monitor HTTP requests that are routed through the interim proxy in order to time and test various requests for specification compliance and performance bottlenecks in the proxy. Solutions such as this have existed in the past, however, they appear to be commercial ($$) or abandoned.
