There are many CA agricultural and environmental data projects that do not have any type of permanent home after the end of a project. Examples include; Central Valley Nitrogen, Delta Consumptive Use, HIstorical DWR large-scale crop maps, Trends in Rice crops, Invasive Weeds in the Delta waterways, and a host of others. Providing a standard methodology to keep these data accessible while limiting the cost of rarely utilized data could be a great help for researchers.
This would be complicated by the fact that these projects generally don't use PostGIS as their standard method of data management.
