The field for "home shire, group or region" only shows up when inputing a new person, not when recommending someon who is already in the OP. This information is still relevant to us as crowns when the person being recommended isn't someone we know. I think this used to be 2 different fields, one for local shire/barony/group and one for region. The option of a region is nice when the person recommending doesn't know where in Germany or Finland etc the person lives but know they are in a certain region. It is also know for us crowns to be able to sort our lists by region making it easier to go through the lists when preparing for events. It also helps when trying to locate an event where a deserving individual may be to bestow recognition. Could we have region first as a drop down menu so that we don't get 1000 different versions of what the regions are called? And possibly once you have choosen region you could get a free text with all the local groups in that region (people have surprisingly many spellings for the same group name). An "other" option under region and free text for local group name would be good if the person isn't living in the kingdom or is in an area where we don't have a local group.
The regions we have been going with so far are Central, Insulae Draconis, Nordmark, Aarnimetsä and Southern. There may be a good idea to leave an opening ("other" or free text for those that are residing outside the kingdom)
Having the fields regarding time in the SCA and home group and Region appear before the free text motivation field will likely prompt people to fill these fields and having the information there and not hope for it to be in the free text field and have to dig it out would make for less work in handling the data. Since we are using the "Pastable Data" from the mail generated by the system to move the information into a coherent and collected document it saves a lot of time to not have to double-check and back-track and try to figure out this information. The pastable data is very conveniant to still have around, thanks for keeping it!
