Review options for the 'Search in collections' feature. It is very useful when it works, however, it operates inconsistently.

This issue is to determine the steps that are necessary to 'fix' the search so that it works as expected but also is a consistent experience across the collections. A decision can then follow to determine if this feature should be removed or fixed in the short/medium term.

Background: Many collections have hundreds and sometimes thousands of targets. It is highly desirable for users to be able to search within a given collection. Since launch of the new UI until the 1.3.7 update only about half the collections offered a search and many of those have suspiciously few results. Since the update the option of search has been removed from most collections where it didn't work.

Steps:

1. Assess SOLR and indexing issues behind this problem to determine potential solutions to fix this issue to offer a consistent experience across all collections.
2. Assess human and/or physical resources required to fix the issue
3. Based on 1 and 2 decide whether a fix should be implemented (and if so when) or if the feature should be removed from all collections.
