Feature request: Dashboard - Hierarchical organization

Motivation

• We want to hierarchize the Organization to make it easier to manage permissions, as partners will be managing multiple clients, departments, and projects.

Currently the only way to view multiple organizations is to either be in them all (at some permission - org owner/admin/viewer) or to be a platform owner/viewer - and be able to see ALL organizations (and project, and groups, and settings etc).

We'll have to think around this one a little bit - as to how an open source & commercial workflow might work for partners.

I hope organizations can contain nested structure like this:

  • Users
  • Groups
  • Projects
  • Organizations ★ this is what I want
    • department-A
    • department-B
    • department-C

Thanks for the updated description of what you're after, this isn't possible at this stage. But we can take the feature request on board for further discussion if its something we could support or not.

Can you describe in more detail though how you might see this working though.

Given this:

    • department-B
    • department-C

Would department-A contain Users, Groups, and Projects, and department-B and C would also contain their own Users, Groups, and Projects too?

Would there be people in department-A that would have permission to manage Users, Groups, and Projects within department-A or would it be that only people in company-x could do that?

Or are you seeing company-X as being able to create and manage organizations within company-X and assigning owners or admins to those organizations, without having to request a platform owner to create the organization?
