+
+## What is UTokyo Microsoft License?
+{:#about}
+
+"UTokyo Microsoft License" provides Microsoft services to UTokyo members. It includes Office software that can be installed on your device, such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. For more information, please refer to the [main systems available](#systems).
+
+## Target Users
+{:#users}
+
+UTokyo Microsoft License is available to UTokyo members (students and faculty) with a UTokyo Account. However, the specific systems available through UTokyo Microsoft License vary depending on the student's enrollment or faculty registration. Some [main available systems](#systems) are restricted to a limited number of users, and the target users are clearly stated in each section. Conversely, systems that are not specifically mentioned in terms of target users are available to all UTokyo Account holders.
+
+### Cautions in case of leaving or changing affiliation
+{:#expire}
+
+If your UTokyo Account expires due to graduation or resignation, you will no longer be able to use the UTokyo Microsoft License systems. As a result, all related data, such as data stored in [OneDrive](#onedrive), will be lost. In addition, due to change in affiliation, you may no longer be able to use some functions that differ depending on your affiliation, such as Office apps. Before graduation, resignation, or change of affiliation, please refer to "[Notice on Account Revocation due to Graduation, Resignation or Change of Affiliation](/en/systems/leave/)" and back up your data.
+
+## Main Systems Available
+{:#systems}
+
+Many systems available through UTokyo Microsoft License can be accessed via the following link.
+
+**[Microsoft 365](https://www.microsoft365.com/login)**{:.box.center}
+
+
+Systems not listed here
+
+Microsoft provides systems other than those listed below, and it is possible to sign in and use them with your UTokyo Account. While we **do not guarantee continuous use** of these systems, we do not prevent their use under **your own responsibility**. Specific risks include the possibility that **a system that was previously available may suddenly become unavailable** due to changes in Microsoft's provision policy. In addition, we **may be unable to provide support** for these systems. Please keep these points in mind when using these systems. If you feel that a particular system is **especially** necessary for education, research, or work, please contact us using the [email form of the utelecon support desk](/en/support/#email-form).
+
+
+### Microsoft Office applications
+{:#office_apps}
+
+**Available only to students and faculty employed by the University of Tokyo**
+
+Office applications that are installed on your device, such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. You can use only the latest version of each application. For instructions on how to get started, please refer to the following.
+
+**[Installing Office Applications with UTokyo Microsoft License](./install)**{:.box.center}
+
+### OneDrive
+{:#onedrive}
+
+An online storage service provided by Microsoft. For instructions on how to use it, please refer to the following.
+
+**[OneDrive](./onedrive/)**{:.box.center}
+
+#### Microsoft Office Web Apps
+{:#office_web}
+
+To edit files on OneDrive in a web browser, you can use Microsoft Office Web Apps. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. are available, but they do not have as many functions as the installed Office apps.
+
+Possible use cases include the following:
+- When minor editing of files on OneDrive is done entirely in the browser
+- When someone who is not a [Microsoft Office applications](#office_apps) user uses Office
+- When the Office app cannot be installed on the device due to permissions or other reasons
+
+For information on how to create and edit files on OneDrive using Microsoft Office Web Apps, please see **[Basic usage of OneDrive](./onedrive/basic)**.
+
+### Teams
+{:#teams}
+
+**Available only to faculty and staff**
+
+Teams is an application that is used for chats, video meetings and so on. For the instruction of usage, please refer to **[UTokyo Microsoft Teams User Manual (written in only Japanese)](https://univtokyo.sharepoint.com/sites/utokyoportal/wiki/SiteAssets/d/Useful_Tools/%E3%80%8C%E6%9D%B1%E4%BA%AC%E5%A4%A7%E5%AD%A6%E7%89%88_Microsoft_Teams%E5%88%A9%E7%94%A8%E3%83%9E%E3%83%8B%E3%83%A5%E3%82%A2%E3%83%AB%EF%BC%8820210311%EF%BC%89%E3%80%8D.pdf)** (accessible only to faculty and staff).
+
+#### "Team" Function
+{:#team_function}
+
+In November 2022, as part of our efforts to "utilize IT tools," in addition to the traditional "teams" based on the hierarchical structure of administrative organizations, it will become possible to use "teams" that can be composed of any members (application required). For manuals, please see below (accessible only to faculty and staff and written in only Japanese).

+{:#about}
+

+
+## Cautions
+{:#caution}
+
+- **Office apps that are installed on a PC can only be used by students and faculty members employed by the University of Tokyo**.
+- You can install the apps on up to 5 PCs.
+- You need to connect to the internet at least once every 30 days for license authentication. The license authentication is done automatically when you are connected to the internet, so you do not need to perform any special operations.
+
+## Usage
+{:#usage}
+
+The following explains how to use Office apps. The procedure is divided into two parts: **[Installing the app on a PC](#install)** and **[Signing in with UTokyo Account](#signin)**. To start using the apps, you need to complete both of these steps.
+
+### Install
+{:#install}
+
+1. Access the following Microsoft 365 Home and sign in with your UTokyo Account.
+ **[Microsoft 365 Home](https://portal.office.com/?auth=2)**{:.box.center}
+ For the sign-in procedure, see **[Signing in with UTokyo Account](#signin)**.
+1. Click "Install and more" at the top right of Microsoft 365 Home and then click "Install Microsoft 365 Apps" in the menu that appears.
+
+ If "Install Microsoft 365 Apps" is not displayed
+ You are not a [target user](#caution). If you need to use Office, one alternative is to use [Microsoft Office Web Apps](./#office_web).
+ If you believe you are a target user but "Microsoft 365 Apps" is not displayed, please check with the office of your faculty or department (students should contact the academic affairs office, and faculty and staff should contact the personnel office) to confirm that your student or personnel registration is correct.
+
+ ![](img/microsoft-install-install-download.png)
+
+1. The subsequent steps may vary. The installation may proceed automatically, or you may need to press a confirmation button or open the downloaded file yourself.
+1. The installation is complete. Proceed to the next step "[Sign in](#signin)."
+
+### Sign in
+{:#signin}
+
+1. Please select and launch one of the installed Office apps, such as Word, Excel, or PowerPoint. The following explains using Word as an example.
+1. Please check the displayed screen and follow the instructions below.
+ - If the following dialog is displayed
+ ![](img/microsoft-install-signin-new.png){:.medium}
+ You are not signed in with any Microsoft account in the Office app. Please click "Sign in or create an account."
+ - If the above screen is not displayed and the normal editing screen is displayed
+ You are signed in with a Microsoft account in the Office app. Click the person icon in the upper right and check the account you are currently signed in with. If you are signed in with a different account other than UTokyo Account, select "Add an account."
+ ![](img/microsoft-install-signin-switch.png){:.small}
+1. The same sign-in screen as during [installation](#install) will be displayed, so please sign in.
+1. If you are using a Windows device, you may see a dialog that says "Stay signed in to all apps." It has been confirmed that depending on the settings here, an error message may occur while using an Office app. To prevent this, please answer the following questions.
+ **Uncheck the box** that says "Allow my organization to manage my device." Next, if you want to automatically sign in to Microsoft systems other than Office apps (such as OneDrive) with your UTokyo Account, select "OK." If you only want to sign in to Office apps with your UTokyo Account, select "No, sign in to this app only."
+
+ If you make a different choice than above
+ Error messages (error code: 80180018, etc.) may appear while using an Office app. This error occurs because the management settings for your UTokyo Account do not match the operation of the Office app, and does not have any negative effects on your device, other software, or saved data, so you can ignore it if you are able to use the Office app without any problems. On the other hand, if you find such error messages annoying, or if you are unable to use the Office app due to an error in the first place, you can follow the steps below to correct the settings above and prevent such errors from occurring.
+ 1. Please close all Office applications such as Word and Excel.
+ 1. Please open the "Settings" app on Windows (the gear icon in the lower left of the start menu).
+ 1. In the settings menu, select "Accounts" > "Access work or school."
+ 1. If "UTokyo Account" is displayed on the "Access work or school" screen, please open the pull-down menu and select "Disconnect."
+ 1. Please restart the Office app and sign in again.
+
+ ![](img/microsoft-install-signin-mdm.png){:.small}
+1. Please click the person icon in the upper right and check that you are signed in with UTokyo Account.

+## About
+{:#about}
+
+This page explains how to sign in to Microsoft systems using UTokyo Account.
+
+The University of Tokyo provides [UTokyo Microsoft License](./), which allows you to use Microsoft systems with UTokyo Account. If you are prompted to sign in to Microsoft systems using UTokyo Account, please follow the instructions in "[Sign in to Microsoft systems](#instruction)" below.
+
+If you are already signed in with a different Microsoft account and want to switch to UTokyo Account, please refer to "[Switching to UTokyo Account if signed in with a different Microsoft account](#switch_accounts)." In addition, the recommended method for using multiple Microsoft accounts in the same browser is explained in "[Using multiple Microsoft accounts in the same browser](#multiple_accounts)." Please refer to this section if you have two UTokyo Accounts, one for students and one for faculty and staff, or if you want to use your personal or other organization's Microsoft account in addition to UTokyo Account.
+
+For general information about UTokyo Microsoft License and details of available systems, please refer to "[UTokyo Microsoft License](./)."
+
+## Sign in to Microsoft systems
+{:#instruction}
+
+This section explains how to sign in using your UTokyo Account if a screen appears requesting you to sign in to the Microsoft system.
+
+When signing in to Microsoft systems using UTokyo Account, contrary to signing in to other systems, you may encounter a sign-in screen that includes the Microsoft logo. In that case, please follow the steps below to sign in. On the other hand, if the screen is not as shown below but a normal sign-in screen (with a picture of Yasuda Auditorium) is displayed, please sign in following "[Sign in to the ICT systems with your UTokyo Account](/en/utokyo_account/#signin)."
+
+
+
+1. Please check the displayed screen and follow the instructions below.
+ - If **"Sign in"** ("サインイン" in Japanese) is displayed below the Microsoft or the UTokyo logo
+ - Enter "10-digit common ID + `@utac.u-tokyo.ac.jp`" in the input field and click "Next" ("次へ" in Japanese) button.
+ - If **"Pick an account"** is displayed below the Microsoft logo
+ - If an account with "10-digit common ID + `@utac.u-tokyo.ac.jp`" is displayed, select that account. If "Signed in" is displayed below the account name, you are already signed in to Microsoft systems with UTokyo Account. By selecting this account, you can continue to use Microsoft systems.
+ - If an account with "10-digit common ID + `@utac.u-tokyo.ac.jp`" is not displayed, click "Use another account," enter "10-digit common ID + `@utac.u-tokyo.ac.jp`" in the input field, and then click "Next."
+2. After the message "Taking you to your organization's sign-in page" is displayed, you will be automatically redirected to the sign-in page with the image of Yasuda Auditorium. Follow the instructions in "[Sign in to the ICT systems with your UTokyo Account](/utokyo_account/#signin)" to sign in.
+
+ Help when this procedure does not work
+
+ - If you see **"Enter a valid email address, phone number, or Skype name."** or **"We couldn't find an account with that username. Try another, or get a new Microsoft account."**
+ - The input is incorrect. Please check if you have entered "10-digit common ID + `@utac.u-tokyo.ac.jp`" correctly.
+ - If you see **"That Microsoft account doesn't exist. Enter a different account or get a new one."**
+ - You cannot sign in with UTokyo Account on this sign-in page. If you see this screen even though the system supports signing in with UTokyo Account, please contact the [support desk](/en/support/).
+
+
+## Switching to UTokyo Account if signed in with a different Microsoft account
+{:#switch_accounts}
+
+This section explains the procedure for signing in to the Microsoft system with your UTokyo Account if you are already signed in with other Microsoft accounts.
+
+1. Please click the person icon at the top right of the screen of the Microsoft system you are using.
+ - The appearance of the icon may vary depending on the system you are using.
+2. A pull-down menu will appear, so follow the steps below.
+ - If the UTokyo Account you want to sign in with is displayed
+ - Select the displayed account name and follow the on-screen instructions to sign in. Depending on the situation, you may be asked to confirm your identity with multi-factor authentication (MFA) or be redirected to the sign-in page with the image of Yasuda Auditorium. For detailed sign-in instructions, please refer to "[Sign in to the ICT systems with your UTokyo Account](/en/utokyo_account/#signin)."
+ - If the UTokyo Account you want to sign in with is not displayed
+ - Click "Sign in with another account." Then, the sign-in screen with the Microsoft logo will be displayed. Follow the instructions in "[Sign in to Microsoft systems](#instruction)" to sign in.
+
+ If "Sign in with another account" is not displayed
+ Click "Sign out" to sign out of the currently signed-in Microsoft account, and then sign in again with UTokyo Account.
+
+
+If the above steps do not work, please try the methods "[using incognito browsing](#secret_browsing)" or "[using multiple profiles](#profiles)" described in "[Using multiple Microsoft accounts in the same browser](#multiple_accounts)."
+
+## Using multiple Microsoft accounts in the same browser
+{:#multiple_accounts}
+
+If you have been given two UTokyo Accounts, one for students and one for faculty and staff, or if you have a personal or organizational Microsoft account in addition to your UTokyo Account, using multiple Microsoft accounts in the same browser may cause account switching to not function properly.
+
+Instead of using a different browser for each Microsoft account to avoid this issue, you can use multiple Microsoft accounts in the same browser by using the browser's incognito browsing function or using multiple profiles.
+
+### Using incognito browsing
+{:#secret_browsing}
+
+If you want to temporarily use a different Microsoft account, it is convenient to use the incognito browsing function of your browser.
+
+Incognito browsing is a function that allows you to use the browser without having the browser remember information such as browsing history or sign-in information. While using the incognito browsing function, not only is no information remembered, but the browser is also unaffected by information that is remembered when you normally use the browser. In other words, in incognito browsing, you can view web pages without being affected by the sign-in information stored in the browser. Therefore, if you sign in to a Microsoft account using the incognito browsing function, you can use the Microsoft system without being affected by the other Microsoft accounts you normally sign in to.
+
+Note that the incognito browsing method is only suitable if you want to temporarily sign in with a different account. This is because the information of the signed-in account is deleted from the browser after closing the browser window. If you use a Microsoft account frequently and want to use it continuously, the "[Use multiple profiles](#profiles)" method described below is convenient.
+
+The name of the incognito browsing feature and the procedure for using it vary depending on the browser. For details, please refer to the official documentation for each browser listed below.

+### Using multiple profiles
+{:#profiles}
+
+If you want to use different Microsoft accounts on an ongoing basis, it is convenient to use multiple profiles in the same browser.
+
+A profile is a function that allows you to store multiple pieces of information (bookmarks, history, passwords, etc.) set and stored in the browser in parallel. Using multiple profiles allows you to sign in to different Microsoft accounts for each profile, and the signed-in state for each profile is maintained even when the window is closed, making it ideal for using different Microsoft accounts on an ongoing basis.
+
+The procedure for creating a profile varies depending on the browser. For details, please refer to the official documentation for each browser listed below.

+Due to a change of service by Microsoft Corporation in April 2024, Kivuto no longer provides license keys.
## Overview
-**Students** at the University of Tokyo can obtain a license to upgrade Windows 10 or Windows 11 to the Education edition. This license is provided as part of the [UTokyo Microsoft License](../).
+Previously, students at the University of Tokyo were able to obtain licenses to upgrade to the Education edition of Windows 10 or Windows 11. However, starting in April 2024, the method of provision has changed, and licenses are now provided as Windows OS available in Azure Dev Tools for Teaching.
-### Scope of use and directions
+### Usage
-- The target is a **privately owned PC**, and only one PC can be applied.
- - Please note that it cannot be used on PCs owned by the university, etc.
-- You can continue to use the upgraded PC even after you leave the university due to graduation, etc.
- - No uninstallation is required.
-- Only students can use it. Please understand that **faculty and staff cannot use it**.
-- This is a license for upgrading, not for clean installation. Please be careful.
-
-## Procedure for obtaining a license
-
-The license is provided through a service called OnTheHub by Kivuto.
-
-1. Access the [UTokyo page on OnTheHub](https://utokyo.onthehub.com/).
-2. Click the "Sign In" button in the upper right corner.
-3. You will be asked to sign in to your UTokyo Account unless you are already signed in. Please sign in.
-4. Select "Windows 10" or "Windows 11".
-5. Click "Add to Cart".
-6. Proceed with the order in the shopping cart. When you complete the order, a product key (alphanumeric code for using the license) will be displayed. Please record and save it yourself.
- - The product key will only be displayed for **30 days after the procedure is completed**. Please be aware that it cannot be displayed again after this period.
-7. Follow the procedures in the "If you have a product key" section of the [Upgrade Windows Home to Windows Pro](https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/ef34d520-e73f-3198-c525-d1a218cc2818) page to upgrade.
- - The upgrade procedure to Windows Pro is the same as for Windows Education.
-
-Please note that products other than Windows Education are also available for purchase on OnTheHub, though they are not provided under the university's contract. If you purchase them, please do so at your discretion and responsibility.
-
-## Notes
-
-- Please use the license by the terms of use of the license provided.
-- If you have any questions about obtaining, upgrading, or using the license, please contact Kivuto on OnTheHub.
-- The content provided (such as the type of license and the procedure for obtaining it) may change depending on the service content of Microsoft and Kivuto and the contract content at the University of Tokyo.
