Imported qemu Debian, blank screen past "Loading initial ramdisk"

Describe the issue
I imported mu Debian instance from Parallels. Everything seems to work fine, except after grub does its thing, the "Loading initial Ramdisk" is shown and the frame buffer changes its resolution, screen goes blank. I tried with pretty much all other VirtIO devices, nothing helps. The VM itself is up and running headlessly, though, as I can ssh into it just fine.

I used Start -> Virtualize -> Other to create the VM config, and then imported the raw img disk.
