There are 2 solutions to this problem:
a) We migrate to sending emails using a different provider, such as a UofT email address
b) We switch to using the new google authentication method in order to continue sending emails
Option A is preferred in the long run, but I have to ask for permission;
For now, to solve this issue, We will start using the new authentication method.

Currently, emails can not be sent as google has disabled logging in with just a username and password; https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/6010255
