I suppose it's due missing vertica-specific column.py, the datatype for String is evaluated as default "TEXT" instead of varchar.
This makes many of the common cross-database macros unusable. Example snippet below:
model:
select {{ dbt.hash(1) }}
compiled:
select md5(cast(1 as TEXT))
