A bunch of things get simpler if this project can use Ansible and https://github.com/ceejbot/mastodon-ansible to do the work of setting up Rails etc. Cooperate with that effort.

https://github.com/0xa/mastodon-ansible is the Octodon setup, which has even a bit more automation.
