text.c appears to be from a different project unrelated to faery-tale.

You may want to take a look at https://github.com/XarkLabs/faery-tale-amiga/tree/macos - he's trying to get the code running on modern hardware.

It seemed there were several utilities, including text.c with some FTA related, some not so clearly. In my WIP macos/SDL2 conversion repo linked above, I have moved them into a folder (to avoid confusing code searches etc.). 🙂
