device.remove doesn't work

Hi there,
device.remove /xyz/ethernet-1 does not work if the VM is up.
Is it possible to remove a device while the machine is running ?

That depends on the virtual hardware version, the version of ESX/VC and the guest OS. You should google for VNIC hot-remove support in vSphere.

Well, I do not need to put my machine down in order to remove the vnNic manually from VSphere Client, which indicates that this feature is indeed supported ?
