I was invited last week to a Dagstulh workshop co-organized by the DDI Alliance. The DDI Alliance pusblished specification for metadata, initially targetting social sciences, but now aiming a cross-domain alliance. Those specifications are strongly related to some of our standards, including DCAT.

There is an interest in the DDI community to push some of their work on the W3C Recommendation track. Given the scope of this work, the Dataset Exchange Working Group seems a good venue for that. Furthermore, in order to maximize participation from both sides, the idea was raised to turn it into a joint working group between W3C and the DDI Alliance -- also taking into account that there is already a significant intersection between both communities.

A discussion has been initiated between the WG participants and the interested people from the DDI community.
