Category: Italian food
Recommendation Reasons: As they claimed, this might be the best restaurant in Melbourne. It is located on the Lygon Street which is synonymous with the Italian community of Melbourne. The price is not high but the food is good. This restaurant is also recommended by my Italian co-supervisor.
Recommended Cuisines: Milano pasta, tuscan chicken, chicken schinitzel, the universal platter. (I personally prefer American pizza so I don't make any recommendation here)
Personal Notes: They don't accept any booking. So arrive the restaurant before 5:30pm if you don't like to wait. One thing that I am not satisfied is that they remove the chicken schinitzel from the delivery menu :(
Category: Chinese food, Cantonese food, hotpot
Recommendation Reasons: They provide different types of 顺德(Shunde) food. They care about the freshness and an umani taste of food. They have a specifial type of hotpot that uses the rice porridge to boil food.
Recommended Cuisines: the chicken and abalone hotpot, double skin milk
Personal Notes: When I was in Shenzhen, I had a foodie travel around Shunde and ate as much food as I can. I would say this restaurant reminds me of the beautiful memory. I personally really recommend this restaurant if you have never had Shunde food or rice porridge hotpot before.
Category: Chinese food, Sichuan food, roast fish
Recommendation Reasons: This might be the best grilled fish restaurant in Melbourne. It reminds of the roast fish I had when I was in Chengdu. The Sichuan cusines here are also very authentic and delicious.
Recommended Cuisines: Szechuan Style Crispy Duck, Charcoal Grilled Fish
Personal Notes: The grilled fish is really authentic and is a MUST eat. The restaurant is in Caufield which take 30 mins drive from city. It is also very close to the tram station.
Category: Chinese food, Tranditional Cantonese BBQ
Recommendation Reasons: a good choice for casual dining and authentic Cantonese cuisine
Recommended Cuisines:BBQ pork omelette on rice, fried rice with shredded duck and preserved vegetables, spicy green beans with minced chicken on rice
Personal Notes: Walk in. Recommended Cash, otherwise the surchage is expensive. Although the food is delicious, the price rised too much.
Category: Chinese food, Northeast food, Charcoal BBQ
Recommendation Reasons: BBQ in Northeast of China is very popular and this is the best one in Melbourne.
Recommended Cuisines: almost all the kebab in the menu; Chinese chives pancake
Personal Notes: Recommended book through phone in advance, because there are only 7 tables. The service is not good and the waiting time is long(because they roasted food by Charcoal). BBQ in China varies in different province. If you are interested in it, I strongly recommonded a documentary about it Season 1 Season 2 Season 3
Category: Chinese food, Hunan Food
Recommendation Reasons: 湖南(Hunan) cuisine is also famous for its spicy taste. This one is the best Hunan restaurant compared with other alternatives in the CBD.
Recommended Cuisines: almost everything
Personal Notes: My mother is from Hunan province so I actually had a lot of Hunan cuisines during my childhood. This one is very authentic and delicious if you like the taste.
Category: Chinese food, Cantonese food
Recommendation Reasons: Very good Cantonese food. Price is also good.
Recommended Cuisines: almost everything
Personal Notes: a very good restaurant and everyone is friendly here. It was closed during the COVID-19 and luckily we have it back :)
Category: Cafe, Sandwich
Recommendation Reasons: A very good cafe that sells best sandwitches in Melbourne.
Recommend Cuisines: All kinds of sandwiches. Coffee is just average.
Personal Notes: We accidently find this cafe on our way to IKEA. The long queue attracts us and we try the sandwich which is really good. You may need to wait for 25mins.
