HiDPi resolutions, Mac OS Sequoia

Mac Seqouia is not allowing advanced resoltuions beyond my monitors native resolution. I've enabled every flag I would have in the past, and still no.

I unerstand its beta so I can wait it out, but wanted to share so you're aware.

Hi there - are you on Intel or Apple Silicon? If the latter, then this is normal (this is how it works since the beginning). if Intel, then this is indeed a new development (I am not running Sequoia in any of my Intel test Macs so I wasn't aware of this change, if this is the case).

Hello, could you please explain why it's normal on Apple Silicon? Is there a way I can use 1920x1080 (HiDPI) on my 4K samsung monitor and my M1Pro MBP14" ?

Normalcy is not inherent in this case, it's only because this is how Apple programmed the GPU drivers. Could be different obviously (in a philosophical sense).

Sure, 1920x1080 HiDPI should be available on a 4K display. Isn't it available in the list with the proper aspect ratio? If not, you can create a custom scaled resolution to have it.

Found something else to share for future work if it makes sense.

I used to create a virtual display and increaes it's resolution. Enabling virtual displays on Sequoia instantly creashes the Window Handler.

Virtual screens should work fine on Sequoia. The windowserver might crash on Sequoia Beta if you use custom aspect ratios and too much resolution items are created. Just increase the multiplier steps.
