Hi, what do you mean by SwitchX - is that SwitchResX? You don't need to use SwitchResX with BetterDummy. You need to mirror the Dummy to the 4KTV and use the macOS resolution selector to select the proper Dummy resolution (you should follow the description found in the README (at the main page of the BetterDummy GitHub site). |

this is what I am referring to. but yeah my bad, I meant inside display settings. It shows up in SwitchResX too though. I can get 1440p for instance, but it is upscaling from 1080p, making everything look blurry instead of from 4k. For now, I will just use regular 4k on the tv without BetterDummy, but I am wondering if this can be addressed. Weird side note, I made a PropertyList with https://codeclou.github.io/Display-Override-PropertyList-File-Parser-and-Generator-with-HiDPI-Support-For-Scaled-Resolutions/ and it was not working... but yesterday it randomly worked for some reason and I had HiDPI for the entire day. Really strange. It was nice having 1440p hidpi for a bit but I cannot get it working again so I came here. |

Ahh, I get it. So the problem is that the 4K displays has a faulty EDID and reports itself as 1080p display. I am afraid BetterDummy cannot solve this issue, nor SwitchResX, as M1 macs don't allow custom timings, only scaled resolutions can be added to the physical display as resolution modes. You probably need something like this: https://www.amazon.com/EVanlak-Passthrough-Generrtion-Eliminated-Thunderbolt/dp/B07YMTMMH5?th=1 (I'll convert this issue into a discussion) |

M1 Mac mini, MacOS Monterey
So when I use BetterDummy on my M1 mac, set it to mirror for my 4KTV, I see a wide list of resolutions on SwitchX including many HiDPI ones. However no matter what I choose, my 4KTV resorts to displaying the image as 1080p, making HiDPI dysfunctional. Is there a way to set the base resolution so that when I mirror, it resorts to the full 4K resolution?
