Dear Mariarosa and Alessandro,

I had another question about the tile naming convention in VMC DR6.

I tried to download the 63 VMC DR6 tiles catalog from Vizier used in Mazzi+21, by the "framesetID" column, using the "framesetID" identifier for each tile found in the DR6 documentation (for example, 558345748509 = LMC 3_2).

However, when I did this, I noticed that some of the framesetIDs are incorrectly connected to the corresponding LMC tile. In particular, when I downloaded the 63 tiles, I plotted the data and saw that it did not exactly match Figure 1 in Mazzi+21, which it should have. I think four tiles in particular, are not even in the LMC at all: 4_2 (558345748536), 5_1 (558345748550), 5_7 (558345748543), 9_9 (558345748587).

I was wondering if you see I am doing something wrong here or if I am misunderstanding the meaning of framesetID? Thank you so much, I really appreciate your help. My goal is to get the exact LMC data used in Figure 1 of Mazzi+21.

I am using the Vizier catalog here. I also tried downloading the catalog using SQL in the VISTA webpage and got the same result. My SQL query is listed below the image at the end of this message.

Dear Abigail,

Indeed we did not make available the ATS results with DR6, but Alessandro can give you more information and/or provide them to you.
I cc here also Leo Girardi, his group head because Alesssandro has in the meantime completed his PhD thesis and his email may have changed (although it still works on my side).

Best, Mariarosa

Hello Dr. Cioni and Dr. Mazzi,

My name is Abby Lee, and I am a graduate student at UChicago working with Wendy Freedman on the extragalactic distance scale. I have worked with Dr. Cioni before on measuring the distance to M33.

Dr. Mazzi, I have read your very interesting paper "The VMC survey – XLIII. The spatially resolved star formation history across the Large Magellanic Cloud." I was interested in using some of this public PSF photometry and the artificial star tests (ASTs) that you generated for some of my own work on carbon-rich AGB stars. I see at the end of the paper in the data availability section: "The PSF photometry and ASTs will be soon shared by ESO in the regular VMC data releases (http://www.eso.org/rm/publicAccess#/dataReleases)."

I was able to find the VMC DR6 PSF photometry catalogs at this link, but not the ASTs. I was wondering if you could point me in the right direction? I would really appreciate it!

Best,
Abby
