I could be wrong but I don't think there's a way to control fan speeds inside of macOS with a Ryzen CPU right now... however the dev of SMCAMD has mentioned he has plans to add fan control so definitely sometime in the future!

Cheers!

Hi @willza3 since I updated to 10.15.4 my pc boots directly into BIOS ando from there I have to pick on the boot options the disk from which i want to boot opencore and it boots correctly but,
my boot option priorities keep getting blank, I tried to LOAD OPTIMIZED DEFAULTS and also I tried bootoption from maco os terminal and bootICE from windows... and my boot options priorities on BIOS keep going blank...

so every time I boot i go to bios and select manually my ssd and then it goes into opnecore and works fine

What could it be?

@manutaberner - I'm not really too sure if I'm honest as I've not had this issue :/ I have both Windows and macOS on seperate drives, with macOS as the main drive as OpenCore is able to boot Windows too.

  • Are you running the latest BIOS version?
  • Are Windows and macOS on seperate drives?

You could see if anyone on the AMD OSX Discord is able to help with this problem as I'm not really sure what the cause is

As for the first question, I honestly don't know in which version I am, but definitely will check it.

Ansewring the second question, yes I have them in separate drives. Maybe is some issue with the BIOS with the installation when I updated. Thank you!!

PS: Is there anyway to change the icons of the opencanopy UI boot??

No problem! Let me know how you get on, this guide might be useful to you! Multiboot baby...

As for the OpenCanopy icons, they're stored in EFI/OC/Resources/Image in the .icns format. If you just replaced the files with your own, I don't see why it wouldn't work but I haven't tried this myself so maybe make a backup before modifying!

Great! Could you let me know which BIOS version you were running before updating? Just so I know which is bugged.

I was using BIOS version 2801, it wasn't bugging maybe I touched something or during one of the two last updates you made I did something wrong, maybe that was the problem.

Now I am using last BIOS available version 3004. Everything works fine but I am struggling to change the opencanopy icons(i've read the docs(page 50 of opencore guide) but I am not understanding them) and I do not know how to erase some of the entries that appear on the opencore bootpicker.

Thank you men!

By the way my usb wifi is TP link TL-WN823N , only download driver and works speedy.
I hope it is useful.

Next test : Same hardware but changes MB with MSI Tomahawk B450 .
I don't know if this EFI works with it.

That'll be interesting to see if it works on the MSI board, I'm surprised it even works on the B450F. I'm actually in the middle of looking at wireless cards for this board as I want Bluetooth etc. That USB one looks like a good alternative option though!

P.S - Did you have to make any changes for it to run on the B450F or did it work with no changes?

@Gizmo648

Thanks . I only download the last driver from tp link page support and works very good , im surprised too , and its speedy , ( I have windows 10 on another ssd) . I didn't make any changes . Your EFI works very good . I have another b450 ( Asus Prime b450) it has different audio codec , maybe i will test it too, I hope this test be helpful. Thanks a lot , this General Discussion is a very good idea.

Honestly the best option I’ve found is a pcie card, it’s called fenvi T919, it offers Wi-Fi and Bluetooth out of the box compatibility on Mac OS, no drivers or anything https://www.amazon.com/fenvi-Continuity-BCM94360CD-1750Mbps-Beamforming/dp/B07VCCZS54

ah thanks for the recomendation. I don't use blue tooth but I will consider it. Thanks a lot. maybe I will buy it.

That Fenvi card looks great, but I've got no room for it in my case (NZXT H100) 😜

Weirdly enough, this motherboard is advertised to have an Intel WiFi chip but it's actually a god-awful Realtek one. I'm going to replace mine regardless so I'll try grab one that's fully compatible with macOS.

If you’re talking about no more slots yea but size it’s actually pretty small tbh but there’s nvme versions of that better suits your needs

I try recently with Asus Prime B450M-A with the same EFI but has issues.
One is al before boot menu: OC: Setting Nvram xxxxNumber : Not found
Lags and freezes randomly .
Works with Safari but with Firefox keeps lagging.
Slow but works with this issues.
I don't know what will happen with MSI Tomahawk next week.

@manutaberner: Some updates about some questions you asked a while ago 🙂

Everything works fine but I am struggling to change the opencanopy icons

If you were still wondering about this... looks like it's possible if you change Misc -> PickerAttributes from 1 to 9 - there's more information about different settings at the very bottom of page 29 of the configuration PDF.

I do not know how to erase some of the entries that appear on the opencore bootpicker.

With the latest update, I've changed the configuration so that OpenCanopy will only show bootable operating systems. If you need to access the system partitions again, just press space while in the boot picker to load OpenCanopy in extended mode.

@tranhoanvo - From what I remember, audio stuttering issues on G CPUs can't be fixed as it's caused by the APU. I had the exact same issue when I had a 2200G.

You can always try this possible solution... but I can't test anything myself as I don't have a G CPU anymore.

Let me know 👍

@tranhoanvo

@willza3 - Thank you. Okay so first of all it's CPU's fault, and to anyone w/ 2400G might concern I found out a way to temporarily fix this. Do a sleep to your PC for a few minutes, then wake it. Problem solved!

I'm not a maintainer for OpenCore or AMD Vanilla, so while it won't be me specifically developing those fixes (props to the OC & AMDOSX team), I will be implementing those fixes into this configuration whenever they become available. To seperate Catalina and Big Sur (until it's official release), I've added a new branch that will add those fixes. As of now it's identical to the main branch and doesn't work.

I'm guessing the new kernel is because Apple will be transitioning to using their own processors over the next two years, starting this week with the Mac mini DTK.

  1. I put all your newest EFI folder into my EFI partition, and only changed the SN number.(also changed the DeviceProperties to make the Audio work). But the 「OpenCore Configurator」 and 「Hackintool」both warning me that the opencore is 0.5.7.
  2. There is a new BIOS outed on ASUS's website.

Not sure why that's happening, it shouldn't cause any issues though, probably just a bug.

I just used GenSMBIOS to generate new SMBIOS, and for my RX 5700XT, I had to add agdpmod=pikera to boot-args to fix the black screen after boot. (from docs: https://dortania.github.io/OpenCore-Install-Guide/AMD/zen.html#add-4 > GPU-Specific boot-args section)

There is one thing I found weird is that Bluetooth is working out of the box on Asus ROG STRIX B450-E. (Not WiFi though.)
