adding territory fips codes #2
Comments
Thanks for reaching out! As you noticed, the package is currently limited to states and excludes territories. If there is enough interest, I could always add them (perhaps as an option to avoid unwanted non-merges). |
i made a branch, if a separate/standalone state+DC+territory package/ado works, I'm down with that! |
Thanks! Will muse on it a bit this weekend. |
As a quick addition to the conversation, it seems that FIPS codes are in the process of being deprecated in place of using identifiers from the Geographic Names Information System standards. I'm just starting to dig into these data now, but planned on developing a Mata-based implementation that could load all of the data as a serialized Mata object once and then could populate records in a file without a merge operation. |
thanks for the package! i did notice that territory FIPS codes (Guam, PR, VI) did not show up. i may branch and add them myself. -p
