Add FDTDx Extension to GDSFactory

In GDSFactory, we currently support integrations with:

• Tidy3D
• Lumerical
• Luminescent
• MEEP
• FDTDZ

I’ve added this project to the Awesome Photonics list.

What do you think about adding an extension for FDTDx as well?

Adding an extension for GDSFactory sounds like an excellent idea. I believe we can implement something similar to the gt.Tidy3DComponent for FDTDX as well. I will start reading into that!

I think the best next step would be that we start to implement a prototype and come back to you when inevitably some questions arise.

Hi, sorry for the long silence! We have another paper deadline mid febrary and will get to work on this feature afterwards. So you can expect a first prototype end february or beginning of march. There are definitely going to be some questions when we start :)
