Nothing happens when clicking 'Install Dev Extension'

I am trying to change this highlights.scm file and test the extension locally. When I click the 'Install Dev Extension' button and select the extension folder, nothing happens. I tried to do the steps from the official docs.

Anything obvious that I missed? Do I need to somehow precompile the extension or anything?

Check your Zed logs:

tail -f ~/Library/Logs/Zed/Zed.log
#linux
tail -f ~/.local/share/zed/logs/Zed.log

The first time you build an extension it can take a little while and there's no interactive feedback showing progress / failure, but you can see what's happening it in the logs (and errors if it fails).
