The site I wanted to use the widget on relies heavily on anchors to display the right page. The Exhibit widget however seems to remove those from the adress bar when it does an action. This way a refresh would bring the user to a different page. Is there any way of making some easy changes to the source code so the anchor remains in the adress bar?

I suspect this has to do with the history widget we use. It has a component where it can track history through changing the anchor for older browsers, and I believe its general guiding design was to be used more generally as overall site navigation. It's already overridden in part because Exhibit itself uses anchors in both generating shareable bookmarks and sharing one specific item by ID in a database. This is probably worth noting in the wiki, that it's not going to play as well as-is with sites that use the anchor for navigational purposes.
