Portiable Astronomical Computation-and-imaging Kit (PACK) is a take-home project for ameture astronomical imaging. The hardware overview of the PACK imaging system can be found at https://www.facebook.com/zyzhu0/posts/2763787760599751. This repository provides the hardware control, image acquisition and processing modules.
To modify the package for a different camera:
- Make sure the camera supports GenICam protocol. Obtain the transport layer *.cti file from the camera SDK directory.
- Check and prepare the list of attribute names for camera control. For example, to change the exposure time, some camera uses the attribute name "ExposureTime", some uses "ExposureTimeAbs". These names can be found in NI-MAX if NI-imaq is installed.
- Alternatively, we can directly load the python SDK from the camera manufacture, if provided. For example, Allied Vision Technologies provides vimba SDK for their cameras.
- Currently the only fully-functioning executable file is vimba_cv2_test.py
02-27-2021:
- Video preview in pyqtgraph using ImageItem object is slow (3~4fps); print fps statement conflicts with '\r' when preview window is open.
- Wrote an example of frame processing routine "process_frame()" in gige_example_vimba.py.
- Tested the video speed in pyqtgraph with the example "video speed test", and settled on the 1024 X 1024 uint8 grayscale as the preview mode (max ~30fps).
02-28-2021:
- Add video test and 2D FFT-MTF ploting using cv2; pyqtgraph not working.
