This method should not be a hack of systemd.

It is not usable for a distributed architecture.

You are right , i forgotten this business case.
But the majority of users are probably in "all in one install". And so, IMO, it should be better to cover the majority of users by automatons and add a comment in documents for others.

The current package does not cover also the distributed architecture because services are all enabled.

@Dan33l : to be able to make a smart decision about your proposal, I think that an example would be appropriate to understand.

Would you mind comment here what would be the necessary actions to:

  1. install Alignak on a new server
  2. configure the system to make it run all the default daemons
  3. installe Alignak on another server
  4. configure the system to make it run only some daemons: scheduler-north, broker-north, poller-north

This configuration is a distributed Alignak framework with a part of its monitoring actions executed on a secondary server.

In a debian way of life, i think that using debconf is necessary to ask question interactively to the user.
With debconf the answer is recorded in a datafile managed by debconf for futur updates of the package. This allows a consistent behavior over time.

The question should use multi select object.
The default answer should be all daemons checked to be installed.
