Project Overview
I like to make my grocery shopping list by bringing a printed checklist (a spreadsheet) to the pantry to remind me how much of each food item we need to stock up with. Leah doesn't like to use these lists to shop, since they have too much extra useless info (the things we aren't buying that week).
The intended user is a working parent who is buying groceries in bulk for a family. He thrives on routine – due to his lack of time, he has a fairly regular menu and usually keeps the same items in stock. How many to buy of each item does change each trip. He shops regularly, perhaps weekly or monthly, at the same store or stores. He doesn't care so much about coupons or choices, but to just get the job done.
The process of making lists and organizing them is tedious. He wants to make his lists quickly and be efficient as he walks through the store, just recalling the things on the list. He cares about price. (This app is not intended for someone picking up random things every few days – other programs would work better for him.)
The app allows the user to create lists efficiently, just choosing the quantity of items from a static list, which has been ordered to match the placement of items in the pantry and refrigerator. When using the list in the store, the list is reordered to match the placement of items in the store (say, by aisle). The app supports multiple stores, one list per store.
