This PR brings a lot of dependency updates.

  • Update to bmlab 0.9.1
  • Drops support for Python 3.8
  • Add support for Python 3.11 and 3.12
  • Fix the read-the-docs configuration
  • Do not use deprecated pkg_resources anymore
  • fix flake8 issues
  • Update to PyQt 6.7.0
