Program and scripts to prepare and process NICS calculations. (Using geometries optimized with Gaussian 16 followed by Gaussian 16 NMR calculation) I originally wanted to write this program in Fortran 95, but I realized that because of the varying lenght of the filenames, C++ would be more convenient. I'm saving the Fortran program to read from input because, who knows, it might come in handy some time in the future. The general workflow for calculating the NICS values is the following: 1) Get optimized geometry coordinates 2) Realign so that the z-axis is perpendicular to ring I considered two approaches to perform this step, implemented in "using_inertia_tensor" and "using_regression_plane". The method in "using_regression_plane" gives much better results 3) Place Bq in center of ring, at +1 z, and at -1 z. 4) Run NMR NBO (NLMO or NCO) NCS calculation 5) Get NICS(1), NICS(-1), and NICS(0) values 6) Get NICS(1)zz, NICS(-1)zz, and NICS(0)zz values 7) Get NLMO or CMO pi-contributions to NICS(1)zz, NICS(-1)zz, NICS(0)zz, to get NICS(1)pi-zz, NICS(-1)pi-zz, NICS(0)pi-zz The only way to get NBO to use CMO with NCS clacluations is by installing NBO 5 or higher.
