I'm 100% sure
stock rom also record in stereo mode.

Stock rom records in stereo mode doesn't mean we have stereo mic.

did you try comparing the difference?
i googled on sensation stereo recording and found people complaining of audio quality when recording stereo

just recorded a music video, a bit better actually. And the video metadata showed it recorded stereo
