Amharic Real Time Sign Language Detection And Interpretation

Description:

This repository contains a custom-made dataset consisting of 45 signs in the Amharic Language, a widely spoken language in Ethiopia. The dataset is specifically tailored for training a machine learning model named YOLOV8 for object detection tasks.

Installation:

To install and set up the application, follow these steps:

1. Clone this repository to your local machine:
    ```
    git clone https://github.com/AbrhamWendmeneh/Amharic-Sign-language-Interpreter.git
    ```
2. Install the necessary dependencies

Usage:

To use the application, follow these steps:

1. Import the required libraries:
    ```python
    import cv2
    import numpy as np
    from ultralytics import YOLO
    ```

2. Define the function to patch the image:
    ```python
    def patch_image(img, results):
        # Implementation details provided in the source code
        ...
    ```

3. Load the YOLOV8 model:
    ```python
    model = YOLO('best.pt')
    ```

4. Capture video from the camera and perform object detection:
    ```python
    cap = cv2.VideoCapture(0)
    while cap.isOpened():
        # Implementation details provided in the source code
        ...
    ```

Features:

- Custom-made dataset containing 45 signs in the Amharic Language.
- Trained YOLOV8 model for object detection tasks.
- Real-time object detection capabilities using OpenCV.
