OFFSPEC (spin-echo): SMC300-5 (power supply) #4461
Comments
Marking as training as this should be a relatively straightforward undertaking to add the extra IOCs |
Creating these IOCs unearthed some problems with some of SM300's macros, see: |

OK, story with this is that they are called SM300/5 (https://www.cnrood.com/en/sm300-5) and are power supplies rather than the homegrown sm300 sandals sample changer motion controller. Device isn't very complicated, follows SCPI and only has a few commands. I suggest we create a ticket to remove the existing SM300 IOC, and create another called DESM or something similar.

Hannah and I are going to have a go at writing a driver for one as they are fairly simple |
@rerpha @boeuf-codes I have edited title and description of this ticket to match the new scope. |
In discussion with OFFSPEC scientists, this is only needed for the spin-echo system on OFFSPEC, not for day-1 IBEX migration. |
As an instrument scientist on OFFSPEC, I want to be able to control up to 3 SMC300-5 power supplies.
