These adjustments allow the UKCore-Observation-Group-Lab profile to capture both simple numerical and complex text-based reference ranges.

Here's the Jira Ticket for this Task to follow the details of this change request (https://nhsd-jira.digital.nhs.uk/browse/IOPS-2932)

@jadedavies11 , I don't have the Github User Id for Callum and Sara. If you'll let me know about the Id's I will also tag them for the Peer Review.

Project/programme Pathology Standards Implementation (within Standards Implementation)
Project/programme manager Standards Implementation Manager: Tracy Simmonite Programme Manager: Wendy Cousans
Sponsor Ian Townend
Brief description of project/programme The Pathology Standards Implementation programme has developed the DAPB4101 Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Reporting Information Standard and supporting data products, based on HL7 FHIR and SNOMED CT. These enable the interoperable sharing of pathology reports from laboratories to GP practices and will be used to replace the existing PMIP EDIFACT (NHS003) standard and Read code based PBCL.
How broad is the impact of the programme/project? NHS England only

Does this work have a fixed and committed deadline? Yes
If yes, what is the deadline: March 2025
Is the work considered high priority or business critical? Yes
If yes, please describe what is driving this prioritisation:
Without the requested change, it will not be possible to fully transition from PMIP EDIFACT (NHS003) to FHIR.
What is the change you would like to make?
The UKCore-Observation-Group-Lab FHIR profile does not currently allow reference range information to be carried. The base FHIR R4 resource supports reference range information using the referenceRange data element, however this was removed from the profile during Clinical and Technical assurance.
The PMIP EDIFACT (NHS003) specification allows complex (text based) reference range information to be carried for test groups (i.e. for panels, profiles and batteries such a liver function test).
To facilitate the transition from EDIFACT to FHIR there is requirement to reinstate UKCore-Observation-Group-Lab.referenceRange.

Not sure why PrimarySampleState is showing here. No changes made from what I can see to the dev branch so can be ignored.
