Describe the Bug

I've received reports that modern versions of PCSX2 have, for some wheels, noticeably worse quality or detail in FFB effects. However, I've been unable to reproduce this on any of the wheels that I own, even going so far as to inspect the raw USB packets to try and isolate any differences in behavior.

I'm looking for help from anyone who can identify specific cases where behavior is different between the old and new FFB implementations, as I can't do any more work on this issue unless I have concrete information to work off of. I personally only own GT4 for testing right now, but if another title produces a more drastic difference, I can seek it out.

Reproduction Steps

Seeking help identifying consistently reproducible segments of games for testing.

PLEASE HELP US BY:

  • Telling us what wheel you use.
  • Recording gameplay in both the latest version of PCSX2, as well as PCSX2 1.6.
    • You may need to download the USB plugin for PCSX2 1.6 manually: https://github.com/jackun/USBqemu-wheel?tab=readme-ov-file (Download USBqemu-wheel-0.10.3-2020-07-28-2d013b25-Release.Zip, place the DLL into the plugins folder of the 1.6 install)
    • I need people to test the old emulator as well, to rule out cases where someone may be misremembering the quality of the FFB from the game itself. If you don't test both versions, I may not gain any knowledge from your report.
  • Share timestamps in the videos where you notice specific differences.

Expected Behavior

Subjective difference in FFB quality or detail, sometimes characterized as if the wheel's force was "clipping" in some way (a phenomenon where a wheel is requested to apply a force stronger than it can, although this isn't literally what's happening here--the wheels in question are far too strong for clipping to be likely)
