While playing through voiced dialogue, a voiced line will randomly stop playing before the end of the line. Sometimes it will cut out completely, other times it will start rapidly skipping the last few ms of sound.
All tests and examples were run from a fresh boot, no save states involved. Please let me know if there's any further info I can provide or testing I can do to help nail this down.
Unfortunately haven't been able to find a perfectly reproducable trigger. Will almost always happen during a sequence with 10+ voiced lines in a row, at some random point during the exchange, but not always.
Originally noticed the issue while playing a CHD archive, but also tried with a clean Redump-verified ISO and the same issue occurs.
Settings I've tried to adjust:
BIOS: Fast Boot: same issue with off or on
Emulation: Enable Multithreaded VU1 Optimal Frame Pacing Vertical Sync Enable Fast CDVD Enable CDVD Precaching
issue remains with all of these options on or off (tried each individually as well as various combos)
Game Fixes: (just for kicks) EE Timing Hack DMA Busy Hack
issue remains with either of these options on or off
Graphics: Renderer: happens on Automatic (defaults to Vulkan), Software, Vulkan, and Direct 3D 11\12
Audio: Backend: happens on both Cubeb and SDL Synchronization: happens on both TimeStretch and Disabled Buffer Size and Output Latency: have increased both in steps up to 200 ms, issue remains
Regression Testing:
-Tested against oldest version of PCSX2 I have (WX Nightly v1.7.2967)
-Issue still happens with both XAudio 2 and Cubeb audio backends
-seems like it happens less frequently with XAudio 2, but issue is still there
Expected Behavior
Voiced lines should play in their entirety without skipping or cutting out.

Error is sound-based, so don't think that GS settings have anything to do with it (but what do I know? 🤷♂️)
