Initially, I thought it was important to have a particular file selection dialog when selecting/sharing a video or other entry with multiple files. But it turned out to be unuseful – the primary file can be determined automatically, therefore eliminating the need for extra clicks and enabling selection by dragging.

In case you missed the previous update, there's now an extension store in the app where you can browse and acquire gallery extensions. To access it, install the app from GitHub or F-Droid ;)

1.29.0 – Widget extension, extension store

This version brings the second extension – Photo frame widget, which shows a random photo changed once every few hours. For each widget, you can configure the shape and search query to pick photos from. You can also enable the date of the shot to be shown on the widget, so it looks like "Your memories" widget from Google Photos.

There is also now an extension store in the app, where you can browse and acquire available extensions. It is only accessible when installed not from Google Play.

1.27.0 – Archiving and deleting. Extensions early access 😎

This version brings early access to gallery extensions. These are extra features of the app which could be either purchased individually, each for its own small price, or acquired for free by sponsors and contributors. Extensions are activated by perpetual offline license keys – no accounts and subscriptions required.

While the extensions are in early access, the only way to acquire one is by sending an email using the Help option on the extension activation screen (Preferences > Extensions). Later, the proper store will be launched, accepting Bitcoin and other P2P payment methods. Extensions won't ever be sold through Google Play or credit card checkout, and the Play store version of the gallery will never have the option to buy extensions – only activate, just like it is done in Grayjey by FUTO. This is an experiment with an ecosystem-independent way for developers to sell app features as a product, and for users to buy what they need and thus support the development. If you want to see this comes live and evolves, install the app from F-Droid or from GitHub ;)

I'd be glad to see you believe in this approach. Check out what you can get so far below. Of course, if you think that's nonsense, remember this is a free and open-source app – you can doctor the feature flags and have your own fully-featured build, leaving me with nothing.

Memories

Memories is the first and currently the only one available extension. It brings you a daily collection of photos and videos from the same day in past years.

The gallery searches for memories once a day in the morning. In the extension preferences, you can enable sending a notification whenever new memories are found.

This one is 2$ and free for sponsors and contributors.
