Introducing RiseMP Pre Alpha 3!
This build has some notable features and enhancements over the last public preview build which was Pre-Alpha 2+.
What’s new? (Big features)
- At a glance. The first thing you see, which has remained (roughly) the same since our first pre alpha (cue the applause now) has received a much-needed refresh. Your version and its relevant number is shown at a glance (pun intended) and you can see all of the big new features included in your build. Buttons have been made bigger for touch users and more description. We’ve also added a quick link to add your library folders for new users. Note: This page is still temporary and will be replaced with a recommendations page when we add support for playlists and internet APIs.
- Video Support. We’ve finally added full fledged video to Rise Media Player. Watch videos from your device by adding them to your media sources from settings. We already look in the default videos folder. This support is basic for now and more features will be coming soon.
Albums – Open albums now show related albums at the bottom, meaning you can go from one album to the next. - Genre Support. The genre page now works, and you can browse your music by genre. This is very basic currently and we’ll be adding more features to it soon.
- Settings. You can now add more colour to our app with a new feature we’re calling Window Glaze! Choose to match your system accent colour or select your own colour from our list. We’re bringing a colour picker in soon you can have exact control. This colour will ‘glaze’ or tint the app window, while still retaining the mica material. Note: This will work on Windows 10, but of course, no Mica. Also, you can make this match the album art of the currently playing song, meaning it’s always changing!
- Sidebar. In the previous release, we added the option to remove entire sections from the sidebar. This is now possible from the right click context menu on the sidebar itself. Additionally, you can now move around items in your sidebar, moving them up and down, meaning stuff that is more important to you stays close. (Other sidebar features mentioned in ‘Smaller features’)
- Now Playing. Introduction of hover actions. When your mouse leaves the now playing window, all controls and text will recede, leaving your album art to have it’s time to shine. Hovering will reveal your controls again.
- Help Centre. Help & Tips is back in the form of the help centre! Access basic written help and support and there may even be a certain round friend popping their head in from time to time!
Smaller, but still important features, changes, and fixes 😊
- Your music will no longer disappear when we are scanning for new media, and you can still browse as normal.
- Albums can now be sorted by date added and release year.
- Items have been moved around a little. Now Playing has been renamed to ‘Queue’ in preparation for a future update. Streaming services and devices have been removed from the sidebar, but they still will be coming as features, just in different forms, later. Local and Purchased has been renamed to ‘All Videos’ to keep it recognisable when the header is removed.
- Feedback has been moved into a more (…) menu. Clicking this menu will give you the option to manually rescan for media at any time. Settings can also appear in this menu if you choose ‘Move to title bar’ on it’s right click menu. Description on search bar has changed from ‘Search music on this device’ to ‘Search all media on this device’. Search is still not functional.
- ‘Show album’ is now shown on the right click context menu for the main songs list.
- Songs and artists can now be deselected easily. The ‘Select’ option from the command bar has been removed but can still be accessed via the right click menu. Updated Colourful icons for ‘All Videos’ section.
