Portal SDI4Apps Quick Guide
Map Tab on portal.sdi4apps.eu allows you to view spatial data on a map. You can add new data in the map, create your own map compositions and share the map with your friends.
A list of available map compositions. Each map composition is defined by a list of layers in pre-defined order and its spatial extent. You can look at this information in the map composition details ().
The list of map compositions can be restricted to current map extent (Filter by map extent) or only to map compositions created by you (Only mine). As you are hovering the mouse cursor over each map composition in the list, the spatial extent of each map composition is drawn on the map by a blue boundary polygon. Therefore, you are able to select a map composition that covers the area you are interested in.
If you would like to share selected map composition with others on social networks, you can easily do it by clicking .
Base layers and other map content of currently viewed map composition.
Only one base layer can be shown on the map at once. The one currently shown base layer is written in bold. If you do not want to show any base layer in your map, you can turn them all off ().
In Map Content, all layers already added to the map are listed. You can change the order of layers by dragging a layer to a new position in the list. It will affect visualisation of the map. Each layer can be turned off using .
When you click on a layer in the list, you can view layer's properties such as opacity, scale range, and legend. You can adjust the layer opacity to fit your purpose. Using layer's toolbar, you can zoom to the layer extent (), change layer settings (), change layer title or scale range () or remove the layer from the map ().
You can choose spatial data offered by Catalogue or you can add external data in various formats.
By default, Catalogue offers only data overlapping with current map extent (Filter by map extent). You can further filter results according to Fulltext, keywords, organisation and order them by title, date stamp or extent similarity.
Metadata of each result is available when you click on its title. You can see the data extent on the map (blue polygon) or you can zoom to data extent when it is not in current map extent. You can add the data to map and then change the order of layers and properties of the new layer in the Manage and Style Layers Tab.
If you want to add another data to the map, click External data Tab.
You can add data provided by WMS or data available online in KML or GeoJSON format. To add WMS data to the map, insert a GetCapabilities request of the WMS service as URL. An example of the GetCapabilities request of a WMS service:
http://geoportal.gov.cz/ArcGIS/services/CENIA/cenia_rt_III_vojenske_mapovani/MapServer/WMSServer?SERVICE=WMS&REQUEST=GetCapabilities
If the data is found, you can see (and change) its properties and, in the bottom, you can select layers provided by the WMS service that should be added to the map.
For other formats, link directly to the source file.
Embed Map Tool allows you to embed your map into your website or to share the map directly or via social networks.
(ONLY FOR AUTHORIZED USERS)
When you finish your map creation, you can easily save your map composition and then get to it anytime you want.
