Principles of Privacy Friendly Apps
All Privacy Friendly Apps share common principles:
-
Minimal amount of permissions Privacy Friendly Apps only use permissions that are required for their functionality. Thus, each used permission used can be connected to a concrete functionality of the app. Of course this could also include some "nice to have"-features. On the help page within the app the user gets information about all used permissions and their purpose.
-
Open Source License and publication of source code All Privacy Friendly Apps are published on github.com and have an Open Source License. The license used is either Apache2 or GPLv3.
-
No inclusion of advertisement No Privacy Friendly App includes advertisement. Advertising could include tracking mechanisms and thus, be a treat to the user's privacy. It furthermore could shorten battery life or use mobile data.
