The first thing to do before you buy all the electronics, bolts and springs, is to 3D-print the housing to feel if the design is right for you.

I recommend printing the shell facing down so that you don't need any support. Printing on glass gives a nice glossy finish. Use a high infill (+60%) and a low layer height (100-200 microns) to get a nice surface.
Use a good quality PLA, and a high resolution for the best result. I recommend using a black PLA for the bottom (maybe carbon infused) and a nice color for the top part - as it looks damn nice!
