Overview

Organize and tackle your activities, events, plans, projects, todos and more with Organizer, which will show you where all your needs are for your convenience! Create lists of things you need either for everyday life or elaborate projects; then the search integrated map feature will locate all your listed items, so you can plan out exactly where to go to accomplish your todos efficiently. No need to search all over the internet for various items' locations, when you can just create a list and let Organizer's integrated map feature conveniently find them for you.

Logged in users should be able to:

  • Create a new list
  • Add items to a list
  • Delete a list
  • Search for near by stores that has the products from a specific list
  • See the price for the product-oriented list items from an individual list (stretch goal)

Authentication Routes:

  • POST /register: creates a new User with the provided credentials and sends a token
    • Request body should include username and password
    • The password should be hashed in the database
  • POST /login - sends a token if the provided credentials are valid
    • Request body should include username and password

List Routes:

  • GET /myLists
  • GET /myList/:id
  • PATCH /myList/:id
  • POST /myList
  • DELETE /myList/:id

List Items Routes:

  • GET /listItems
  • POST /listItems
  • GET /listItem/:id
  • PATCH /listItem/:id
  • POST /listItem
  • DELETE /listItem/:id

Technical Challenges:

  • Third party acquisition and implementation of map API
  • Integrating third party API with hardcoded database
  • Store(s) rendering on "Near Me" map feature, based on list items
  • Creating Dummy Walmart API
  • Integrating shopping feature to show price of all list items
  • Real-time updating

Stack:

  • Express
  • Postgres
  • Google Map API
  • Prisma
    • This backend stack build provides the app with an efficient and well-structured database, storing, logic, and sound security for its users. This build harnesses the data relational capabilities of Postgres and Prisma to enable a reliable database upon which the app can properly store and supply data to and from the frontend. This is substantiated by Express providing a solid framework for API's, requests, responses, and the server to handle the demands of the backend to ensure the app is running properly.
