Sometimes there's a race condition when laying out the slider and we get a size of zero. This kind of fixes the problem for my use case. No idea about the general case.

I have the need to know when the mouse/finger goes down on the slider, so I created this. It's a very simple change since you already handle the "down" events internally.
Sorry about the alignment breakage due to the length of the new name. Please re-align equal signs if you wish.
