Building Bitcoin Core on Windows using MSYS2

Install MSYS2 on 64-bit Windows

Please download the installer here: http://msys2.github.io/

Open the "MSYS2 Shell" to start using it.

Warning

You may need 20 GiB of free space to complete the build.

Update the installed MSYS2 to the latest version

Update essential packages. You must exit the shell after doing this.

pacman -Sy
pacman -S --needed filesystem msys2-runtime bash libreadline libiconv libarchive libgpgme libcurl pacman ncurses libintl

Update remaining packages.

pacman -Su

Install MinGW toolchain and required libraries

pacman -S make autoconf automake libtool pkg-config
pacman -S mingw-w64-{i686,x86_64}-toolchain mingw-w64-{i686,x86_64}-pkgconf
pacman -S mingw-w64-{i686,x86_64}-{boost,protobuf,libpng,qt5,qt5-static}

Build and install packages provided by this repository

for i in mingw-w64-i686-*; do

    pacman -U mingw-w64-*
    popd
done

Patch bitcoin_qt.m4

Replace -lqwindows with -lQt5PlatformSupport -lqwindows.
