Hi Carina,
Per our discussion on Twitter, I've made some style updates to the site. I've also fixed a few bugs, cleaned up some navigation (removing some dead links, such as the Meetup group).
There's definitely a larger overhaul that could be done, perhaps version 2.0.
I hope you like it. And if you have suggestions or requests for further updates, I'd be happy to make more.

PS - I also incorporated the updates suggested in #1 to avoid merge issues.
