Good news:

  • Added all latest TD patches
  • TD patches should now allow older kernels than 4.19 to boot properly and perhaps devices on 4.19 to boot when they previously did not. Your mileage may vary though.
  • Fixed MicroG support completely - tested working! It uses the latest STABLE version of microG - I highly recommend you use the "unstable" builds on F-Droid to get much newer functionality but your call. :) Enjoy!

Bad news:

This will be my last release of Voltage for the foreseeable future - I have too much IRL stuff to be doing so got myself a Pixel 8 Pro and running Graphene for now. I just wanted to get this release out first.

Changes:

  • Update VoltageOS to 3.4 (many changes included here)
  • MicroG builds should now be working properly
  • Full GAPPS builds should be working properly
  • Bluetooth changes from the latest AOSP tree have been held back for now since they cause a LOT of problems and, again, TrebleDroid team are working on this but you shouldn't experience any BT changes here.

Notes:

  • This release WILL bootloop on devices running 4.14 or older - this is a change with Google AOSP sources and a patch is in the works by the TrebleDroid folks - I will close any and all bugs related to kernels 4.14 or older since there is NOTHING I can do to fix this.

  • As always - it can take a fairly long time (up to 15-20mins or so on some older devices) to perform app upgrades during the first boot so please be patient. If your kernel is >=4.19 then you're likely not experiencing a bootloop and your device is just compiling all app updates.)

Changes:

  • Switch to TrebleDroid bluetooth disabled commands implementation (improve BT on some MTK devices mainly)
  • Add experimental MicroG build (please provide feedback on this if it works or not! :))

NOTE: When installing an update it may take a few minutes to get past the boot splash. This is normal - please be patient.

Changes:

  • Add full gapps builds - vanilla builds are still the recommended builds for most

NOTE: When installing an update it may take a few minutes to get past the boot splash. This is normal - please be patient.

NOTE 2: Full gapps builds effectively bypass a lot of the privacy components of the ROM and still seem rather pointless to me but people asked for it so here it is.
