What is Vote Monitor?

Open, transparent and fair elections are the very essence of democracy. Ensuring that the electoral process is genuine and faultless represents a fundamental concern for any democratic state. Making sure that civic organizations, authorities and the voting public are fully equipped with 21st century digital tools to watch over fair elections is essential. Vote Monitor is a product designed to address this fundamental need, a tool dedicated to election monitoring for commissioned observers. First released in 2016, Vote Monitor was designed by a Code for Romania team of volunteers to tackle the challenges of election monitoring and address them through simple and effective solutions.

Since its initial development, Vote Monitor has been deployed three times in two countries and has had over 5000 users who have submitted over 180.000 messages through the app. Vote Monitor is open source, available for free to Civil Society Organizations all across the world and ready for redeployment for other groups, institutions and companies as well.
