     On the page you can find various research aids that can help you with you (provenance) research into Dutch colonial collections. The research aids aim to help users in the first steps of their research into objects that were acquired in a colonial context and now part of museum collections in the Netherlands. The research aids are linked in an intuitive way, allowing relevant information to be found quickly. There are three different levels on which the research aides operate. First, there are general search aids that answer questions such as ‘How can I use the datahub for my research?’, ‘Where can I find sources for my research?’ and ‘How do I write a provenance report?’. Second, there are search aids that provide information on topics related to colonial collections in the Netherlands, such as the role of civil servants, missionaries, the military and science in collecting objects, or on the trade in colonial objects. Third, there are research aids that contain specific information on, for example, museums, other heritage institutions or individual handlers. Besides a brief description of the subject, the research aids provide the user with specific tips and references to relevant source material.
