The compiled version we provide may not include support for the user's hardware architecture, so users with relevant professional knowledge can compile CapOS by themselves.
To build your own firmware you need a GNU/Linux, BSD or MacOSX system (case sensitive filesystem required). Cygwin is unsupported because of the lack of a case sensitive file system.
You need the following tools to compile CapOS, the package names vary between distributions. A complete list with distribution specific packages can be found in OpenWrt's Build System Setup documentation. CapOS has provided a script that can automatically install dependencies on some system, but it is unstable so do it yourself if error occurs.

Now, you can simply run bash ./scripts/quickstart.sh
to start, or do the following steps yourself.

Run
bash ./scripts/auto_install_dependencies.sh
to automatically install dependencies on some system, It is unstable so do it yourself if error occurs. -
Run
./scripts/feeds update -a
to obtain all the latest package definitions defined in feeds.conf / feeds.conf.default -
Run
./scripts/feeds install -a
to install symlinks for all obtained packages into package/feeds/ -
Run
make menuconfig
to select your preferred configuration for the toolchain, target system & firmware packages. Choosing LuCI is recommended -
(Optional) Run
make download
to download sources required to ensure the stability of compiling. It would be helpful especially in China Mainland. -
Run
make
to build your firmware. This will download all sources, build the cross-compile toolchain and then cross-compile the GNU/Linux kernel & all chosen applications for your target system.
Web panel is on 2000/tcp (http) and 2020/tcp (https).
Telnet is running on 23/tcp before root password is set.
SSH will run on 22/tcp after root password is set.

different categories. All packages are installed via the CapOS package
manager called opkg
