2.4 GovCMS Updates (May 2020)
Pending the release process, the latest GovCMS Drupal 7 (D7) distribution update is scheduled for release on 15 May 2020. For this release we’ve focused on:
-
module updates and additions
-
bug fixes
-
customer-identified issues from GitHub and the Service Desk.
This release contains over 25 new items. It adds:
-
one theme update
-
numerous module updates
-
several security and confidentially-related modules
-
one bug fix.
Note: The D7 update does not contain security patches.
The D7 updates one theme – Zen 7.x-5.6.
See: https://www.drupal.org/project/zen.
Table 1 identifies the modules that are being updated. The modules are listed in alphabetical order.
Table 1 Updated modules
This update contains four new modules, which are interconnected:
-
Webform encrypt 7.x-1.3
-
Encrypt 7.x-2.3
-
Key 7.x-3.4
-
Real_aes 7.x-2.1.
These modules have been included in the platform to improve the security and confidentiality of data stored for GovCMS as the platform is now accredited to OFFICIAL: Sensitive. The Webform encrypt module allows fields and other components in the Webform module to be encrypted. When a user submits the completed web form, the encrypted value for that component is saved rather than the value entered by the user. Encryption is provided by the Encrypt module.
The Key and Real_aes modules are required to enable the Webform encrypt module.

This release includes a fix for a bug that prevented a user from resetting their password after five failed login attempts.
This update does not remove or disable any GovCMS D7 modules.
The GovCMS D7 distribution will continue to be supported after this update. Updates to address critical security updates will be scheduled as required.
PaaS customers should review the detailed information about this update. More information is available at https://github.com/govCMS/govCMS/releases/tag/7.x-3.13. You may need to apply updates.
SaaS customers don't need to perform any actions as part of the deployment but DO need to check their sites after the deployment to ensure there aren't any issues.
All Drupal 7 customers should plan now to transition your website to Drupal 8 or 9.
